This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 06, 2007:
I love movies, but there is only one movie that has changed my life, and that is because the Universe used it get me to focus on the turning point question of my life.
The Movie: Good Will Hunting. the scene: the shrink asked Will, repeatedly: What do you want, Will?
It is a question I had always dodged as being unimportant or inappropriate. What EYE, Carla, wants, is the least important thing on Earth, and it is even wrong for me to want anything.
That question knocked me upside the head, and I spent the next 24 hours or was it a week? in a darkened room, mentally and emotionally, and Spirit would not let me out till I had answered What do you want, Carla?
That first time through, I got as far as ART and LOVE, and that was enough. The curtains opened and light entered the room, and I was allowed out to get busy, going about doing and Being ART and LOVE.
Over the years, I have refined my desire, and allowed it to express through me in different ways, and falling off course a few times, following some illusion of necessity and not the truth of my desire.
Eleven years later, I have a one woman retrospective show, Love Medicine, with the theme of art as an expression of sexual healing. My friend made a logo for me, CarlaLove, and if you go to his website and click on my logo, you can see a video of me talking about how ART and LOVE found me and would not let me go.
You see, kids, What you Want is your North Star, your compass, your Delorme Map to be who you came to earth to be! It is also your instruction book, and your marching orders. If you came to Earth for a purpose, to do a job, and make a difference, What you want -- YOUR DESIRE-- is how you know what that job is!
So ask yourself, everyday, many times. What do I want? If it is chocolate, offer to the Universe your pleasure in Chocolate. If it is to create a work of art--anything- -offer that. If it is to change your plans to help a friend in need, offer that. You get the picture. If it is to be a traveling street mime, don't go getting a job as bank teller. Someone else is called to be a bank teller, bissfully and joyfully. You gotta do the street theater or you ain't doing your job!!!!
OH, I just deteriorated into a rant. I feel rather passionate about this. I am going to go love on my mother earth and mow a little grass before it rains.
