What's your favorite chore?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 11, 2007:
My favorite chore is mowing the grass. I love the opportunity to walk every square foot of meadow, and get a close look at what is growing and living there. I can't claim it is a lawn, it is too big, rich and diverse to be a lawn. For a couple of years I took the efficiency measure of paying a fellow to mow, on his riding mower. I was very unhappy, I needed to bless the land with my foot steps, walking behind my push power mower. Last year I bought a brand new mower that works beautifully. Today I am mowing for the first time this year. The growth is so lush and tall that I may have to scythe some parts first. I leave part of my yard in meadow to allow wild flowers to grow for the butterflies, bees and birds, then mow in September after all has bloomed.

What a lovely image. When I make attempts to meditate I often picture a medow scene much like the photo above.
This was a great way to start my day/
Thank you

Spent an hour yesterday cutting grass. It wasn’t bad. Gotta say my favourite chore is using my ten horsepower snowblower to clear my driveway in winter. That thing is a BEAST! A high testosterone machine . . .

Haha.Snake, a snowblower wouldn't touch the snow we had in Maine this winter. the plow trucks couldn't even move it. Where does your snow fall?
Alice, thanks. I just had to share my clipper ship of violets this spring. The have been replaced by a field of Blue eyed grass.
Carla…i love mowing grass too, and the smell of it and getting green feet….but I wheeze and go into asthma convulsions….so can only watch…:(
