What was the last thing you found yourself waiting for?

Posted on Jun 24th, 2008 by Carla : peace artist Carla
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 24, 2008:

Waiting for Gaia pages to load. Well you asked.
It is very frustrating and prevents me from participating more than I do.
I have a fast connection and fast computer. It's Gaia that sends me down the rabbit hole, on both my Mac and PC.

So I am waiting for Gaia to do whatever it takes to improve the functionality of this website.

I stay because I love and I am loved in return.

I'll play when I don't have to stand in line for my ticket or watch my token drop through the grate.

Sigh.

(2nd attempt... I'm waiting!)  tap tap tapping my little toes

This is also a concern of mine Carla. I have spent much less time here related to the loading times….It used to be so fast. It is frustrating and I hope they improve the functionality…it is a great place to be….

Hey, I felt this coming for weeks. The grind, grind, grind, sorry we've lit the incense pop-up has gotten under my skin for than a few times. Well I know the answer to the bottle neck problem.

It's throw more money at it, and it will set up and listen.
This little link say a lot in a few words.

Thank You Carla for stepping up to the plate.

Mary, where do you find the gaia community pod these days? I have wanted to do my doobee diligence and offer bug reports in a genteel and effective way, but I lost the pod in one of the recent makeovers.

Thanks!

do you have Firefox 3 Carla?
I am just surprised at several people having a challenge with Gaia pages loads.  I do not have DSL and do not have the slow Gaia pages loads experience.  My sister have DSL and it is the ISP that have a problem with connection speeds so I am not quite impressed with her DSL service.  There are a lot of factors that can make Gaia pages load slower for people with different computers, browsers, ISP's, and the “stuff” that they may have inside their computer that can make things slow down unknown to the owner because of surfing around the net.
I've read somewhere that Gaia is unveiling some new stuff soon so hopefully one of them will be faster loads and that the new features won't slow things down for some.
thank you,
samme

Thanks for the reminder, Samme, that Firefox three is ready. I have been waiting. apparently 2.x had issues of various kinds.
I  work/play with two different complex websites, and both can have loading issues. One site (my job) is working on them one area at a time.  Gaia I haven't seen the evidence.  A lot of it can be the surge of growth, doubled  membership this year. My more laidback sites, like my mail, the blogs I visit, and the places I browse to, no loading issues. I would notice this cept I want to pop in every day a few times a day and do stuff. That's a lot of opportunities to be shuffled down a dead end, or to lose my post. But then that's what a social networking community is supposed to be engineered  to handle, Si!

oh dear, it has indeed been a while since I visited you & I just did a rant about this on Tom's blog, which would have been purrfect here ;-) I turned off my mail alerts as the magnitude sorta stresses me a bit, not to mention tempts me big time to stop working & go look see what's up. Now, I'm working the grid from the subscribed section here & still trying to keep up. The good thing is I am getting more work done whilst suffering from gaia withdrawals lol!

I wish everybody would go & tell in the support group to make it clear how big a problem this is.. I do hope you have integrated the habit of copy pasting yr comments before sending? I used to write comments offline whilst reading the blogs in my mailbox; Now I find myself praying a lot out loud when writing online ;-)

Tara, I do copy except for when I don’t and then I go “shit! and hold my breath till it takes.” Support group. They hid that somewhere… or maybe I’s just lazy.
