Bishop Tutu and Carla
I walked onto the terminal shuttle bus at Dulles airport in Washington DC and sat down. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was sitting across from me. He had come from South Africa to be in Washington for the inauguration. He didn't even have a ticket. He just had to be here, he said. He pinched his cheek, laughing, and said, It is such a wonderful thing, I want to pinch myself to make sure it is real.
I had my picture taken with him.

Help

That is AWESOME! What a thrill for you. :)
On another note… he didn’t have a ticket??? *shocked* That is a big oversight I am thinking. Hope he had a wonderful time!
Whoohooo! what a great photo. You are beaming and beautiful:-)
Hey, that’s wild Carla!
Sounds like it was quite a magical journey for you!
Is this for real? How exciting! Did he have an entourage? How fabulous for you to meet this wonderful man..if f just for a moment in time. It was a magical day, and I am happy that you had such a memorable moment. ((hugs))
OMG Amazing Magick on top of Amazing Magick!
The miracles never cease, they are increasing!
Blessed Serendipity Carla! I love it!~~~<3
Carla???!!!! How very cool!! I am so excited for you, as well. What a synchronistic beautiful moment. I’ll bet you’ll be pinching your cheek for awhile to make sure that was real. Woo Hoo!! Awesome, lady!
I LOVE Desmond Tutu! He came to Seattle with the Dalai Lama and spoke, he is very humorous! You look so cute with him! Lucky YOU!
:)
of course he found you … your coat (and your amazing beauty/energy) drew him to you! This is my most delightful story of this inauguration week … Carla and Desmond Tutu. You touched him … and now you are filled w/ his energy and creativity. Zounds!
love you darlin’
Tre cool, Carlita!
Gosh everybody! thanks for sharing this moment with me. It truly felt like a blessing. He is so generous and expansive, and so happy. He felt the joy of this moment for America and the world, and one who has spent his life working for peace and equality in his country, it made the import of a African American family in the White House just so much bigger.
You know what’s cool and this is the power of it: I look at Barack and Michelle and their friends and family around, and I don’t see black. I see people and beauty. It wasn’t always this way. And this is one great thing they will do for America, just by being there.
Glad you posted this here!
connecting with that picture - the two of you just literally beam out joy - what a treasure.
peace and blessings -
Sylvia
what a wonderful chance encounter. Things like this make me so glad.
Hehe, I like this attitude: I don’t have a ticket but I HAVE to be there.
Yes, usually it is all it takes!
You both look happy!
A DIVA and a BISHOP … how appropriate and synchronistic.
what a marvelous coincidence! You both ooze happy happy joy, thank you for sharing that moment Carla, I am all smiley face looking at you : )
Coincidence? Nope, fihi ma fihi…
